The Facilities Commissioner represents Physical Plant
units in all repair, replacement
and new construction projects. The Commissioner coordinates project activities,
participates in design review meetings, conducts inspections, tests systems
and
and documents Warranty Deficiencies. He serves as an advocate for the UCSC
Physical Plant.
The Commissioner works with project managers from Work Management, Physical
Planning and Construction and their consultants in resolving new building
and project
commissioning issues and warranty problems. He conducts initial project
and plan
review and facilitates Physical Plant craft review of construction documents.
He
obtains current and accurate blueprints for Physical Plant use.
The Commissioner participates in job walks with craft supervisors. He
schedules
inspections of facilities and equipment during construction. He provides
for Punch
List follow-up and converts incomplete Punch List items to Warranty Deficiencies.
Campus Standards
Working with Physical Planning and Construction, the Facilities
Commissioner
participates in periodic reviews and updates of the Campus Standards.
Warranty Deficiency
The Warranty Deficiency program provides for making sure that
contractors and
manufacturers are held accountable for the quality of work or product
provided.
Deficiencies are reported to the Facilities Commissioner who then logs
in the
deficiency in congunction with the project manager and contacts the appropriate
parties to ensure follow-through and correction of the problem.
