| In an effort to provide the best service for your
event, please review the following information to determine your request
needs.
Grounds Services can deliver 32-gallon trash containers with liners,
recycling containers and refuse dumpsters for events. We do not regularly
work on the weekend, but with advanced notice, accommodations can frequently
be made to provide staffing. Here is information that will help you to
decide which services you will need.
- Trash Cans
- What is the date of the event?
- Exactly where would you like the cans delivered? (i.e. the east
side of the courtyard at the Academic Resource Center)
- How many containers you would like? This is dependant upon the
number of people attending and the type of trash you will have.
Normally one trash container per every 50 people is adequate. If
you are serving box lunches, the containers quickly fill up, so
you will need a can per every 20 people.
- How many liners would you like per can? We typically provide 5
liners per can, but the number is dependant upon the length of the
event and the type of trash generated.
- Will you need event clean up help? Staff can be provided if enough
advanced notice is given, typically 2 weeks is requested.
- Fees: Trash container fees are based upon the labor time needed
for preparation and delivery. It usually takes up to an hour to
deliver and pick up 10 cans, sometimes less. You are only charged
for the actual labor time it takes. Our labor recharge rate is $32.25
per hour. Staffing for your event, if requested, is charged at the
same rate and is at time-and-a-half on weekends.
- Please contact Scott Loosley (9-2197, sloosley@ucsc.edu)
if you have questions.
- Recycling Containers
- What is the date of the event?
- Exactly where would you like the containers delivered? (i.e. the
east side of the south courtyard at the McHenry Library)
- What type of recycling containers will you need? Specify aluminum,
plastic or glass and the quantity needed. Usually one of each type
needed is sufficient for a small group.
- Fees: Recycling container fees are based upon the labor time needed
for delivery and pick up. If containers are already present at the
site, you will only be charged for pick up. It usually takes up
to an hour to deliver and pick up containers, sometimes less. You
are only charged for the actual labor time it takes. Our labor recharge
rate is $41.85 per hour.
- Please contact Dave Wade (9-3671, dmwade@ucsc.edu)
if you have recycling questions.
- Refuse Dumpster
- What is the date of the event?
- Will you need additional dumpster service? If your event generates
refuse that is not from regular facility operations, you will need
to request additional dumpster service.
- Exactly where would you like the dumpster delivered? (i.e. the
east side of the East Field House adjacent to the pool parking lot)
Please provide a map identifying the location if possible.
- Fees: Refuse dumpster fees are based upon the labor time needed
for delivery and pick up of the container and the volume of refuse
generated. There is a one-hour minimum charge for delivery and pick
up of a container. If containers are already present at the site,
you will only be charged for pick up of generated refuse. Our labor
recharge rate is $41.85 per hour and the refuse volume fee is $6.35/cubic
yard.
- Requesting information regarding additional dumpster pick-up or
dumpster delivery can be made by contacting Ron Dillehay (9-3666,
dillehay@ucsc.edu).
